QUESTION
Should I buy a 55-inch or 65-inch TV?
Buy the 65-inch TV if you sit roughly 8 feet or farther away, watch a lot of movies/sports/games, and it fits your wall or stand. Buy the 55-inch TV if you sit closer, have a smaller room, are price-sensitive, or would rather spend the same money on a better panel quality.
A 65-inch screen is meaningfully larger: compared with 65 inches, a 55-inch TV is about 15% smaller diagonally and about 28% smaller by screen area. That difference is very noticeable in a living room.
Quick rule: for a typical 10–12 ft couch distance, I’d lean 65-inch. For bedrooms, apartments, narrow stands, or under about 7–8 ft viewing distance, 55-inch is usually the safer pick.
