QUESTION
Are 8K TVs worth buying right now?
For most people, no — 8K TVs are not worth buying right now. You’ll usually get a better picture-per-dollar from a high-quality 4K OLED, QD-OLED, or premium mini-LED TV.
The main issue is content: there still isn’t enough real 8K video to justify paying extra. An 8K TV can upscale 4K and HD content, but upscaling is not the same as watching native 8K, and the improvement is often hard to notice unless the screen is very large and you sit fairly close.
An 8K TV may make sense only if you’re buying a very large flagship TV, money is not a major concern, and you want the most future-facing hardware available. Otherwise, buy the best 4K TV you can afford.
