Buy a simple 13–14 inch laptop with 16GB RAM and an SSD. If you only use browser tabs, the best-value pick is a refurbished Dell Latitude or HP ProBook with 16GB RAM and at least a 128GB SSD. It will feel much better for lots of tabs than a cheap new laptop with only 4GB or 8GB RAM.

My practical shortlist:

  1. Refurbished Dell Latitude — best value for browser-only use.
  2. Refurbished HP ProBook — similar value; pick whichever has the better condition, battery, and return policy.
  3. Microsoft Surface Laptop 13 — nicer, lighter option if you want a new-feeling premium everyday laptop.
  4. Dell Precision 7680 — skip for browser tabs unless you also do heavy professional work; it is far more laptop than you need.

Minimum specs I’d target: 16GB RAM, SSD storage, 1080p-or-better screen, Wi‑Fi 6 if possible, and a good return policy. Avoid 4GB RAM, eMMC storage, and bargain laptops with weak screens if you keep many tabs open.
