Is the Honda Passport TrailSport worth it for snow?

Short answer: yes, but only if you’ll actually use its snow advantages. The Honda Passport TrailSport is a good winter SUV for about $40,000–$50,000 new (roughly $32,000–$45,000 used, depending on year, mileage, and condition), but the TrailSport badge itself won’t make it dramatically better in snow than a regular AWD Passport on the right tires.

For snow, the biggest upgrade is still dedicated winter tires. A Passport TrailSport with winter tires will usually outperform a fancier AWD setup on all-seasons. If your winters are mostly plowed city roads and occasional storms, a regular AWD Passport may be the better value. If you face deep snow, steep driveways, rural roads, or ski-travel conditions, the TrailSport is more worthwhile.
