Netflix with ads is usually worth it at about $7–$8/month in the U.S. It’s the best choice if you want the cheapest Netflix tier and you’re fine with short ad breaks. If you watch casually, use Netflix as a “one service at a time” subscription, or mainly stream popular Netflix originals, the savings can be worth the tradeoff.

Ad-free Netflix is usually worth paying for at roughly $15–$23/month if you binge often, hate interruptions, watch with kids, or care about having a smoother experience. The ad-supported plan is not a great fit if you’re very sensitive to ads, want the broadest title access, or plan to use Netflix heavily every week.

Quick rule of thumb:

  • Choose Netflix with ads if saving about $8–$15/month matters more than convenience.
  • Choose ad-free if you watch enough that ads become annoying fast or you want a more premium experience.
  • Skip Netflix for a month if you only have 1–2 shows to catch up on and then move on.

Prices, plan limits, and title availability change by country and over time, so check the current plan page and sold/current listings before subscribing.
