Is the Honda Odyssey too much car for one child?

Usually, yes: a Honda Odyssey is more vehicle than most one-child families need—but it can still be the right choice if you regularly carry grandparents, carpool kids, take road trips, haul bulky gear, or want sliding doors and easy car-seat access.

For one child and normal daily driving, a compact or midsize SUV, wagon, or sedan will usually be easier to park, cheaper to run, and still roomy enough. But the Odyssey is not “wrong” for one child if you value convenience over size: sliding doors, a low step-in height, wide second-row access, and huge cargo space are genuinely useful with a car seat, stroller, travel gear, pets, or visiting family.
