Yes — the Nintendo DS Lite can still be worth buying in 2026 if you want an inexpensive, compact way to play original Nintendo DS cartridges and Game Boy Advance games. It is especially appealing for retro Pokémon, Mario, Zelda, Brain Age, Castlevania, Advance Wars, and other physical-cart libraries.

Do not buy it expecting a modern handheld experience. It has no current digital store, very limited modern online usefulness, old screens, aging batteries, and used units vary a lot in hinge, button, touchscreen, and cartridge-slot condition.

Best rule: buy one only if you specifically want physical DS/GBA games and can inspect or return it. Check that both screens work, the hinge is firm, the touchscreen responds accurately, the speakers work, both DS and GBA cartridge slots read games, and the charger/battery are included or easy to replace.
