QUESTION
Is the PS5 Pro worth it if I already have a PS5?
For most current PS5 owners, the PS5 Pro is not a must-upgrade. If you already have a PS5 and it feels fine, the Pro is usually only worth it if you have a good 4K TV (ideally 120Hz/VRR) and you care about squeezing out better image quality, steadier performance modes, or higher frame rates in demanding games.
Typical price to pay:
- PS5 Pro console: about $650–$700 new
- PS5 Pro + disc drive accessory: about $720–$780 total new
- Used/open-box PS5 Pro: about $550–$650 if it includes everything and is in excellent condition
If you already own a standard PS5, a better value upgrade path is often keeping the PS5 and spending on a better TV, SSD, or a game library unless you specifically want the Pro’s performance boost. Also, the PS5 Pro does not include a built-in disc drive, so physical-game owners should budget for that extra cost.
Prices move around a lot, so check sold/completed listings before buying.
