For mostly city driving, the Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness is usually not the best value. If you’re shopping used, a fair price is typically about $29,000–$34,000 depending on year, mileage, and condition; for a new one, expect roughly $33,000–$36,000 before taxes/fees. It starts to make sense only if you regularly use rough forest roads, snowy unplowed routes, muddy trailheads, or you specifically want the extra ground clearance, tougher tires, and rugged trim.

For a city-first Crosstrek, the Crosstrek Sport or Limited is usually the better buy: easier to live with, typically a bit more efficient, and often cheaper to purchase. The Wilderness is the right choice if your “city driving” also includes frequent weekend access roads, camping, skiing, beach tracks where allowed, or rural bad-weather driving.

Prices change a lot by region and mileage, so check sold/completed listings before buying.
