For a normal home, Wi‑Fi 7 is usually worth paying for only if you’re already upgrading or you have a specific reason to need it. A practical fair price is:

  • Wi‑Fi 7 standalone router: about $180–$350 for a decent home model; $350–$600+ for premium multi-gig/tri-band units.
  • Wi‑Fi 7 mesh kit: about $300–$700 for a 2-pack; $700–$1,200+ for larger or higher-end systems.
  • Wi‑Fi 6 / 6E alternatives: often $80–$180 for solid routers and $180–$450 for mesh, which is usually the better value for typical streaming, browsing, and WFH.

Worth it if you have multi-gig internet, a lot of active devices, a crowded apartment, gaming/VR, or you’re replacing old hardware anyway. Not worth the extra cost if your current Wi‑Fi 5/6 setup is stable and your internet is under about 1 Gbps.

One caveat: router prices change fast, so check recent sold/completed listings or current retail prices before buying.
