QUESTION
Should I buy the LG C4 OLED now or wait for the LG C5?
If you’re deciding right now, I’d generally recommend the LG C4 OLED unless the C5 is only a little more expensive.
The C4 is still an excellent buy: it delivers roughly 90–95% of the C5’s performance for many buyers, while often costing noticeably less. It also has the key gaming and connectivity features most people want, including 144Hz support, very low input lag, and four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports.
The C5 is a refinement, not a dramatic leap. It brings some improvements in brightness and processing, but for most buyers the upgrade is incremental rather than transformative.
Buy the LG C4 if:
- It’s meaningfully cheaper than the C5.
- You want the best value and don’t need the newest model.
- You want a proven OLED with top-tier gaming features.
Wait for / buy the LG C5 if:
- The price gap is small.
- The C5 is on sale and is within about $150–$200 of the C4.
- You want the newer generation and are happy paying a bit more for the incremental upgrade.
Simple rule:
- Big discount on the C4 = buy C4.
- Close pricing or a small premium for the C5 = get the C5.
Pricing can change quickly, so it’s worth checking the current street price before you buy.
