QUESTION
Is Samsung OLED better than LG OLED?
Neither brand is universally better — both make excellent OLED TVs. The better choice depends on your room, budget, and what you care about most.
Samsung OLED models are often known for QD-OLED panels on many premium sets, which can deliver very bright, vivid colors. They’re a strong pick for bright rooms, HDR gaming, and punchy picture quality. One tradeoff: Samsung OLED TVs still do not support Dolby Vision; they use HDR10+ instead.
LG OLED models are traditionally WOLED TVs, and LG’s higher-end sets have also used brightness-enhancing panel tech such as MLA on some flagship models. LG is especially popular for dark-room movie watching, strong black levels, and broad size options. LG does support Dolby Vision, which is a plus for many streaming movies and 4K Blu-rays.
A useful caveat: Samsung’s OLED lineup is mixed. If you specifically want Samsung’s signature QD-OLED look, check the exact model, because Samsung also offers some OLED TVs that use other panel types in certain sizes or tiers. For example, the flagship S95 and some S90 models are the ones most associated with QD-OLED.
Simple rule of thumb:
- Pick Samsung if you want brighter, more vibrant colors and watch a lot in a bright room.
- Pick LG if you want Dolby Vision, a home-theater focus, or more size flexibility.
