Buy a thermal label printer if you print shipping labels regularly—especially for an online shop, marketplace selling, warehouse, or high-volume mailing. It is faster, cleaner, and usually more convenient because it does not use ink cartridges for direct thermal labels.

Stick with a regular inkjet or laser printer if you only print labels occasionally or you also need to print documents, forms, photos, invoices, flyers, or full-page color materials. A regular printer is more versatile, but label printing is slower and usually requires label sheets plus ink or toner.

Best practical rule: if you print labels every week, get a thermal label printer; if you print labels only once in a while, use a regular printer.
