Why does my router need restarting every day?

A router that needs daily restarting is usually being pushed into instability. The most common causes are overheating, buggy firmware, too many connected devices, a failing power adapter, or an ISP/modem problem.

What to check first:

• Heat: move it to an open, cool spot and clear dust from vents.
• Firmware: install the latest update in the router app or admin page.
• Load: see if the problem happens when many devices are online or during heavy streaming/gaming.
• Power: try a correct replacement adapter with the same voltage and amperage.
• Connection path: check whether wired devices also drop, which points to the modem or ISP.

If the router is older and still needs restarting every day after those checks, it’s likely wearing out and may need replacing.
