Your iPhone usually disconnects from car Bluetooth because of a bad pairing record, outdated software, or a conflict with Wireless CarPlay/Wi‑Fi.
Most common fixes:
- Forget and re-pair the car on both your iPhone and the car’s system
- Restart both devices
- Update iOS and, if possible, your car’s infotainment software
- Reset Network Settings on the iPhone if the problem keeps happening
- Turn off Sync Contacts for that car if it drops during contact syncing
Why it happens:
- The saved Bluetooth connection can get corrupted
- iPhone and car software can become incompatible after an update
- Wireless CarPlay uses Bluetooth first, then Wi‑Fi, so weak Wi‑Fi can cause disconnects
- Temporary iPhone network glitches can affect Bluetooth too
If it still disconnects after re-pairing, the next best step is a network reset and a software update.
