Why is my TV picture too dark?

A TV that looks too dark is usually caused by a setting, not a bad screen.

Most common fixes:

• Turn off Eco / Power Saving modes
• Disable Ambient Light / Auto Brightness / Light Sensor
• Switch from Movie/Cinema to Standard or Custom
• If it’s only dark in certain apps or games, check HDR settings and tone mapping

If it’s dark all the time:

• Test in a dim room
• Shine a flashlight on the screen; if you can faintly see the image, the backlight may be failing

Special case:

• On OLED TVs, some dimming in very bright scenes can be normal
