People miss old internet forums because they felt like real communities, not feeds.

• People had real identities. Avatars, signatures, post counts, and custom titles gave users a sense of continuity and belonging.
• Conversations moved at a human pace. Replies were thoughtful, longer, and less performative than today’s fast-scrolling social media.
