Because the router and internet are probably fine, the problem is usually on the laptop side: a bad saved network profile, VPN/security software, IP/DNS trouble, a driver issue, or a Wi‑Fi band/security mismatch.

Try these in order:

  1. Restart the laptop and router, then turn Wi‑Fi off/on.
  2. Forget the network on the laptop and reconnect.
  3. Disable VPN/proxy/security filtering temporarily.
  4. Renew IP/DNS and run the network troubleshooter.
  5. Update or reinstall the Wi‑Fi driver.
  6. Try 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz if your router uses separate bands.

Quick read:

  • Sees Wi‑Fi but won’t connect = password/profile/security issue.
  • Connects but says no internet = IP/DNS/VPN/firewall issue.
  • Can’t see the network at all = adapter, driver, or band compatibility issue.

If the laptop works on another hotspot, the issue is your home Wi‑Fi settings. If it fails everywhere, the laptop’s Wi‑Fi adapter or driver is the likely cause.
