QUESTION
Will kids use AI for homework by default?
Probably for many kids, yes — but not universally or literally “by default” everywhere.
AI is increasingly becoming a normal homework tool because it’s being built into search, writing apps, school devices, and some education platforms. That means more students will use AI the way they use spellcheck or calculators: as a background helper for brainstorming, editing, summarizing, and tutoring.
That said, it won’t be a true default for everyone. Several limits still matter:
- school rules differ a lot by district, grade level, and country
- some teachers still ban or tightly restrict AI use
- many assignments are shifting toward in-class writing, oral checks, handwritten work, or project-based evaluation
- access is uneven, so not every student has the same tools
So the short answer is: AI use for homework will likely become normal for many kids, but it won’t be universal, and schools will keep adapting to make simple AI-assisted cheating less useful.
